Due to object and exhibition restrictions, there may be additional requirements for any event.
General Facility Rental Policies
The initial two-hour charge includes one to two security staff, depending on the rental. A $75 fee applies for large groups or restrictive exhibitions. Groups of 50–150 require one additional staff member, 150–250 require two, and groups over 250 are reviewed. All events must follow professional museum standards at all times.
Food and Drink
The preferred caterer for all food and beverage arrangements is Iowa State Catering. Red wine, sauces, fruit punch, candles, open flames, and Sterno burners are prohibited. Menus must be pre-approved, and renters are responsible for any damage, repairs, or conservation costs caused during events.
Additional Rental Items
The renter will be charged $25 per item for equipment use. Additional items may include but are not limited to: extra lights, audio/video equipment, podium. Contact University Museums with equipment questions. Set-up arrangements will vary depending on the size and type of event. Tables, chairs, and linen service for all catered events must be arranged through Iowa State Catering.
Deposit
An initial deposit of $250 will be due upon the signature of a contract, and the remaining balance will be due the day following the event.
Cancellation Policy
Should the renter cancel the event within seven days of the event, a $250 cancellation fee will be charged. If within fourteen days a $150 cancellation fee applies.
