During the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, a monumental meeting was held on the fairgrounds: the World’s Parliament of Religions. It was the first gathering of its type that welcomed an array of religious leaders from around the world. This presentation discusses how religion was represented at world’s fairs and the significance of these sites for the development of religious pluralism and the academic study of religion.

Generously funded by Carol Pletcher. In conjunction with World's Fairs, Expositions, & Centennial Celebrations of the Victorian Era on exhibition at the Farm House Museum through October 31, 2024.
